April 20, 2009 marked the first anniversary of ‘Save American College Campaign’ led by a section of former and present teachers, alumni and students and well wishers of the institution,. which has remained Madurai’s pride for long. A meeting to mark the anniversary was held in the city at Justice V.R. Krishna Iyer Community Hall in which speakers highlighted the need to restore the pride of the institution. “American College is just an idea not a property,” said R. Nedumaran, secretary of Chennai chapter of AmericAn College Alumni Association. Solomon Pappiah emphasized the need for a “sacrificial leadership”.
