It lasted till late in the evening almost till 6.30 well after the normal closure time of the courts. After the completion of the arguments the Hon’ble Judge has deferred his judgment. It is very much expected before the end of this week.

II. THE TRIUMVIRATE
Prof. JOHN SHEKAR of English Dept. --- ----MUTA SECRETARY
Prof. RAJENDRA PANDIAN of Eng.Dept. ----MEMBER, GOVERNING COUNCIL
Dr. NAVANEETHA KANNAN of Zoo. Dept.--- --MEMBER, GOVERNING COUNCIL
In the year 2005 there were many aspirants for the principalship of our college. Of course like in any other college there were factions among staff supporting different aspirants. The above three staff were not at all on the side of Dr. Chinnaraj Joseph. Actually they were against his candidature.
This could be one of the biggest miscalculations of Davamani & Co during their scheming to take over the college. They were sure that both the GC members would automatically be on their side supporting them to the hilt. But when this problem cropped up these three very firmly stood on the side of the Principal from day one. When I personally appreciated them, each told me, in unison that it is for the college that they stand, forgetting the personal likes and dislikes. Dr. CJ may be principal for the next two years; but the college will always remain. And it should belong to ALL OF US and not to a family – that’s what they said.
The roles played by Rajendra Pandian (RP)and Navaneetha Kannan (NK) are greatly praiseworthy. They had been pillars of this struggle. Their steady support and deep and sincere involvement has added to the legal strength of all our cases.
Of these three, John Shekar as the Secretary of our college MUTA unit has been spearheading the struggle. Everyday at 11.30 they conduct a gate-meeting near our watchman’s tower at the Washburn Gate. Everyday they raise slogans and some one from teaching or non-teaching fraternity addresses, always attentively listened by the cronies of Asir & Co so that they pass all the information about who talked and what did they talk and all that . John not only organizes these meetings everyday; on many days he also gives very inspiring speeches. Such are his speeches that he has kept the spirit of all the staff quite high and unwavering in all these days.
I bow to these three with respect and in appreciation.

III. THE POOR GEESE
This ‘story’ of the geese in this blog may look very odd for many of you. I assure that it has got a very important message and also it would stand as a witness to the cruel mentality of the bishoporic group.
Just opposite to Wallace Hall a large pond was dug out both as a rain water storage and as a percolation pond two years back. Immediately after the pond was dug out, there came heavy rains filling it to the brim. To avoid any of our hostel students having any mishaps during nights with our infamous and irregular power supply immediately the pond was fenced. It was somebody’s idea (Botany Prof. Winfred?) that few geese in the pond would make it lively and lovely. So two pairs of geese were introduced into the pond. They were milky white. The sauntering geese added beauty and made it a scenic spot. Recently one female started incubating seven of its eggs. We were waiting for the ‘new releases’ but never thought about the cruelty of some human beings (are they really?).
Nearly three weeks back Davamani Christopher’s car hit one of the parading geese when they were slowly crossing the road next to the pond. It should be only a wanton cruel act. One was hit. It was also taken by the driver. Next day one another goose was also missing. Probably the taste of the first goose made them go for second one, we thought. That has been proved since the remaining two have also disappeared in the ensuing days.
What a senseless goons we have been having around us. So sad. It was very surprising to find such meanness. But what happened on 2nd Dec surpassed all these silly things. It just proved that they are not simply mean but they MEAN BUSINESS!.
The detail comes in the next part.
corrigendum: sorry about some factual mistakes since i did not have first hand info. a correct details comes in the next post as a first hand information from Prof; Winfred of Botany Dept.

IV. THE CRUEL VILLAINY
On 1st Dec John Shekar found an auto with 4 lousy looking elements following him when he was riding in his old and battered, never-above-20km-speed-scooter. He had some doubt since he happened to see one of them pointing him to the others. When they had the road a little clear the auto went past him after hitting his scooter. Since he was going very slowly he could manage himself not to fall down from the vehicle. Still he dashed against the pavement during his maneuvering and did not have time to note down the number or other identification of the auto rickshaw.
Yesterday ( 2nd Dec) morning he found again another auto following him. He too was cautious. After being followed for some time he could go ahead because of heavy traffic leaving them behind. But on the evening he left the campus at 5 pm. And around 5.45 he was back in a bad shape, physically and psychologically. Both his rear view mirrors of his scooter were broken; he had his shirt and pants soiled, torn and blood stained; bruised in the hands and legs.
At the back side of the Pandiyan Hotel, near its pastry shop while he was proceeding home he got hit by an auto which was rushing from a side road, this time very purposefully. He was thrown away from his vehicle; though he fell onto the side of the pavement his helmet saved him from any head injury. Luckily he escaped with bruises; however the impact of fall was on his left wrist. During this incident, one of the non-teaching staff loyal to the bishoporic group is suspected as an informant and also he was seen immediately after the accident at that spot. When John entered the campus and was narrating the incident he was found returning into the campus in his two wheeler. Immediately friends took him to GH for further treatment and examination.
Later it was said that police themselves cautioned John to be careful since the opposite group was planning something nasty. Even on 1st the campus had unusually more police bandobust. One of the cops said to our staff that “they” are trying to hatch some plans like pelting stones into our group to create some disturbance in the campus.
My personal comment to the accident of John was that such things happen only in movies not in real lives. But “they” prove that they are more cruel than our movie villains; very unethical and inhuman. The level to which they will stoop, the extent they will go to grab their aims, the utter disregard for humane values – everything astonishes and shocks me to the core.

I am totally stunned when i read these. Really we have to be very careful; Why dont we ask Police protection, Oh! The Police themselves can do these things for the thrown bones of Bishop. What we can say. WE HAVE TO BE CAREFUL WHEREVER WE GO. dont have any words.
It is very sad that Prof. JJS is threatened and assaulted repeatedly. Such an abominable act is highly condemned. There are no words to describe the courage and valour and more importantly, the resistance against oppression our professors have shown in this process. The American college family is grateful to them. All the three teachers have taught me and now, after 5 years, my memories are still fresh.
Prof. RP is the best teacher I have ever had. No one ever thought of missing his class. His ability to narrate novels, history and drama are unmatched. He never reserves himself to subjects. He relates everything to current affairs and issues and subtly infuses insights that connect fiction and reality. I saw his quality of resistance when he was active in opposing the TESMA. I won't hesitate to say that he is no less than a social activist. He is also a better human being. He appreciates fine arts. He is still a great inspiration for me. I'm proud that I was his student.
Prof.JJS is a master of linguistics. He taught linguistics in a very understandable way. I can still remember how he taught linguistics to my visually challenged friend by pasting a thread on the quadrilateral to let him understand it by the sense of touch and feel. He was also active in opposing TESMA.
Dr. N.K. taught me an elective. He is very patient in clarifying doubts. I used to read the "Scientific American" Journal from SHANSI and discuss with him regarding gene therapy and genetic engineering. Though it was nowhere related to the subject he took keen interest in clarifying all these so that I would not lose the diversity of interests.
When speaking about diversities, the college has celebrated diversities, unlike any other space. There were diversities in religions, ethnicities, classes, subjects and interests of the students. We have such a tradition that all those diversities were given equal attention and a perfect harmony was maintained. Bio-diversity was one among those diversities.
I remember our one of our professors reacting to students trying to hit a snake in the campus. He said, "Why do you disturb that snake when it does not disturb you?", period. We knew the role of bio-diversity in sustaining the ecological balance and we were living examples to the world. Adivasis in Maharashtra, to resist deforestation and to preserve bio-diversity, mark boundaries for "Devarai" (Sacred grooves). We have similar inherent tradition to protect the sacred bio-diversity. I am of a strong opinion that we learnt all these along with our subjects in the American College. But what can we expect from real estate mafia? When human beings are not important for them how can we expect love for plants and animals from them?
All we can hope is the victory of the truth!
