An appeal
Academic Community of the American College are shocked to hear the news that the Madurai Kamaraj University is keen to process the application for approval of Mr.M. Dhavamani Christopher for the post of principal.
His appointment is illegal and being challenged in the court of law, and any decision by the Madurai Kamaraj University is sub judice.
The University being a supervisory authority instead of conducting an enquiry into the illegal activities of Mr.M.Dhavamani Christopher is interested in extending support to him.
Most importantly Mr. M. Dhavamani Christopher does not have the required qualifications to be a Principal in an ‘A’ Grade College like The American College.
He has a Ph.D. Degree only in Education and NOT in Mathematics.
Even his elevation as associate professor of Mathematics is highly questionable.
It is reliably learnt that some vested interest in the University including an 'influential' Syndicate member who posses himself to be close to the Education Minister and the Government is trying to bring pressure on concerned University authorites to illegally sanction qualification approval to Mr. M. Dhavamani Christopher.
Instead of taking decision based on the recent UGC guidelines (2010) the syndicate members are now being influenced, bribed and compelled to follow an outdated, outdated UGC guidelines (2006) just to favor Mr. M. Dhavamani Christopher.
We strongly object to this illegal move. This has to be stopped immediately.
In the American College the duly selected Principal by the Governing Council and subsequently approved by the Government can alone assume office as Principal and then can act as the Secretary of the college. The Governing Council that elected Mr. Dhavamani is NOT a legal Council & it is in dispute. The matter is pending in the court. More over the specific Governing Council meeting cannot be convened by Bishop as he is NOT the executive Head of the college, a fact reinforced in a High Court Judgment in 2009.
Mr.Dhavamani Christopher is trying to seek qualification approval by hoodwinking the Director of Collegiate Education, MKU. After getting the qualification approval from the University, illegally he is planning to get the 'Secretaryship' through the registration department which again is against the constitution of the college.
Against the verdict of the Honorable Madras High Court Bishop Christopher Asir is extending all possible illegal ways to make his son-in-law, Mr.M. Dhavamani Christopher the Principal and Secretary of The American College.
We strongly urge the Tamil Nadu Government and the Madurai Kamaraj University to immediately conduct an enquiry. Further we reiterate and request the Tamil Nadu Government and the Madurai Kamaraj University to STOP giving any approval toMr. Dhavamani Christopher, failing which the faculty of the American college will launch an indefinite agitation.
