This video shows the First Phase of The American College 'Freedom' struggle, between April 2008 and August 2009.
I started taking photographs from day one when Bishop Asir planned to make an 'invasion' attempt on 19-04-2008, which eventually failed on that day.
On 29th August 2008, Bishop with the help of rowdies and with the connivance of police, 'broke open' the locks of the college offices and took possession of the college.
Bishop and his men were chased out of the college on 29th August 2009 by a High Court verdict.
In a violence broke out on Oct 2008, the hooligans employed by Bishop's men, snatched away my camera, Nikon D40X a DSLR. I lost it forever! After which I couldn't take photos. I bought a new one only a year later.
I take this opportunity to thank all faculty, retired faculty, non-teaching staff and students who fought with us and those who are fighting with us in this II Phase too.
This video will show our determination to fight for our right.
We will never give up.

Dear Prof. PK,
Sad to know that your DSLR was snatched. It should have been your most prized possession, as I know since my college days that you were passionate about photography. Having photo-documented protests and human rights violations, I always have had the fear of losing the equipment. The goons snatched our organisation's video camera once and damaged the tape when we tried to document the state of construction workers working there (it was a shopping mall in Pune).
But I was fortunate enough to complete doing candid photography with my compact camera (a nikon coolpix P3) in such situations. But I could not do it with my D90 without attracting attention. So I still keep my compact camera for such purposes. Even if I lose my compact camera, it does not hurt me as much as losing my D90. Smaller the camera is higher is the chance of saving the equipment and lower are the chances of being spotted.
