BISHOP ASIR & MOHAN REFUSED TO ATTEND THE MEETING OF THE HIGH LEVEL COMMITTEE

It is no surprise that Bishop Asir and his appointee Mr. Mohan did not attend the high level committee (HLC) meeting to resolve the American College issue. This is the tenth occasion in which Bishop Asir plays foul putting spokes in a reconciliation meeting. It may be recollected that even a mediation attempt previously by the sitting Judge of the Madras High Court Honourable Justice Periakaruppiah failed before Asir. Once again he has played the same trick.
    In the meantime, the team led by Dr. P.R. Anbudurai, Principal-in-charge with other members incuding T. Chinnaraj Joseph Jaikumar (former Principal and Secretary) K. Anbunathan  (Additional Dean- Self Financing programmes) and Ms. Shanthi Manuel, governing Council member of the American College, promptly attended the meeting convened by the Chief Secretary Ms. S. Malathi IAS chairman of the High Level Committee that includes Mr. Gnanadesiken IAS, the Home Secretary and Mr. Ganesan IAS, the Principal Secreary for Higher Education.
    The thrust of the appeal made before the High Level Committee is that the Directorate of Collegiate Education (DCE) seriously erred in giving a tacit letter of approval given to the fake appointment of Mr. Mohan.
     The team led by Dr. PRA argued that Bishop Asir misled the Directorate of Collegiate Education on three grounds -

• firstly, Bishop Asir successfully hid the fact that Dr. PRA was the Vice-Principal in Office at the time of Dr. T. Chinnaraj Joseph Jaikumar's superannuation. 
• Secondly, Bishop Asir, without juridiction and as he did in a previous occasion, arbitrarily issued the impugned appointment letter to Mr. Mohan. 
• Finally, the most shocking thing was that the Bishop Asir fabricated the Constitution and cited 'non-existent' portion of the College Constitution (which in fact was an out dated circular of erstwhile Madurai University issued in 1973 and since removed through a proper Constitution Amendment finally on 21-05-1986 by the Governing Council!).

     The team led by Dr. PRA also made a written request to the High Level Committee to order CBCID probe into the March 14, 2011 violence and other criminal offenses committed by Bishop Asir and party since 10th December 2010.
    The team led by Dr. PRA also requested that the government to take action on the Bishop for having submitted fabricated documents in support of Mr. R. Mohan's  impugned appointment.
     The central plea made by the team led by Dr. PRA is that the committee should take decisions upholding the by-laws of the college.
    The meeting was very amiable and promising. It is hoped that the committee will decide soon on who is the legitimate Principal-in-charge of the American College.
