AGITATING FACULTY BURN NOTICES

AMERICAN COLLEGE PROTEST ENTERS 59TH DAY

EXPRESS NEWS SERVICE, MADURAI. FEBRUARY 8

The agitating faculty members of The American College burned the notices issued to them by the acting principal (who was illegally appointed by the Bishop Christopher Asir) in front of the principal's office on Tuesday (08-02-2011).

The struggle between the Bishop's side and the faculty members (fighting against Bishop's illegal interference in college administration) entered the 59th day today, as the faculty members are protesting the Bishop's illegal take over of the college administration by appointing the principal & secretary (for which the Bishop does not have any powers, a fact adjudicated a year ago by the Madurai Bench of Madras High court, find the judgement copy in this blog).

Under these circumstances, the protesting faculty members received notices from (the fake) acting principal R.Mohan asking them to return to duty otherwise disciplinary action would be initiated against them.

On Tuesday (08-02-2011), the faculty members staged a demonstration against the Bishop and his men in the college campus and then marched towards the principal's office. Prior to that (Principal-in-Charge and Secretary) P.R.Anbudurai and (Head of MBA) Anbunathan addressed the faculty members. They (then) burned the photocopies (& also the originals) of the notices issued to them and shouted slogans condemning the 'acting principal'. A police team under Assistant Commissioner Shanmugam rushed to the spot. They urged the faculty members to leave the place and the agitating staff disbursed peacefully.

I am an alumni of this great insitution. It's disappointing to note that the eminent professors sccumb to the pressures of the church leaders rather than support this great learning centre at any cost.

It would be prudent for the lecturers and professors to join hands together and fight against the bishop of such nature and for the common cause and unity of the collge . But to great dismay, it is marred by casteism and parochialism. And therefore it is easy for the church leaders to create divisions and helps them to implement their evil ideas.

Unless there's absolute unity among the teaching Fraternity, you can expect Bishop and his team to spoil this instution.

I also would like to remind that this bishop was elected based on what? caste...? Money...? Why did you vote for such sub-standard people? We call ourselves intellecutals, but when it comes to election, we go by what? I leave it to the readers discretion.

Let us pray for that the vision of the missionaries fulfilled through us.

Truth is not a frozen dogma but it evolves in integration with people’s questions and challenges.

Let us join hands nad fight against such shoddy bishop.

Let's start quit bishop movement throughout the diocese as most of the bishops have swindled our hard earned money.
