The struggle of teaching and non teaching staff of The American College against the “takeover” bid of CSI Bishop Christopher Asir has resulted in an interesting and crucial turn.
Their constant effort in the form of protests, telegrams and petitions to Chief Minister, Home Secretary, Chief Secretary, Education Secretary and Collector of Madurai has paid off!
Today, the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Dr. M. Karunanidhi has appointed a 3 member high level committee with Thirumathi S Malathi IAS, Chief Secretary as Chairperson and Thiru K Gnanadesikan IAS, Home Secretary & Thiru K.Ganesan, IAS, Principal Secretary, Higher Education Department as members. This committee will probe into the recent untoward happennings in the college and will find a permanent solution to the issues and problems prevailing in the college campus.

Very glad that a high-power Committee of the TN Government will look at the American College problem and that it has the mandate to find an amicable solution to the problem. As a College well-wisher let me hope that the College's Constitution will have a preponderant role in suggesting the solution. All the best to the College. We wish that it soon recovers its premier status as a great educational institution of long standing, which it has always enjoyed until its recent misfortunes.
