This is a beautiful narration of the evening hours when our long wait for justice came to an end. This comes from Ms.SAMUEL CYNTHIA of Department of Biochemistry.

It was 2.30 pm on Thursday, 11th Dec, 2008 when all of us patiently waited in the campus seated under the trees in front of the Flint House, waiting for the verdict from the court. The judgment was to be announced a week after the hearing. It was a nervous moment though …..Just kept waiting for a while, when we sensed some joyful gestures from our senior faculty. We went running towards them and the first thing we heard was–

• The dismissal of Dr. Chinnaraj Joseph was quashed
What next…..we waited……..???

• The status of the real governing council has to be decided in the lower court……… Ok….then?

• The Bishop, Dr. Davamani Christober and Dr. George Selvakumar are not to interfere in the administration of the college...
We still kept our fingers crossed…..and there it came out clear –

• Dr. P.R. Anbudurai is to take over as Principal In charge and Secretary of the college. JDC, COP and Collector to cooperate with him and ensure smooth functioning of the college

Yeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhooooooooooooo!!!!

It was as though suddenly stars twinkled exuberantly in the sky profoundly illuminating the treachery of the murderous satanic night….

Oh God! screams and yells everywhere. We could hardly hold it…..we only found ourselves screaming, yelling and running in every direction hugging each other and sharing the joy.

I stopped for a moment and could feel the tears flowing out…..though wanted to hold it tight. It was so wonderful witnessing an invincible smile lighting up on faces that had been submerged in a cloud of derogatory disappointments. I kept looking around. I cannot express what I felt at that moment. Many could not hold back their emotions. I could see Sam George sir taking photographs as he kept on shedding tears and was finding hard to even stand.

It does not require much effort to recall the feelings of helplessness that filled the American College family as we were on the brink of losing the college to the abuse of eminent domain by the Bishop and his cronies on 29th August 2008. How could we hang onto our home that had been in our family for over a century? We stood up for the truth and what if we lost? How would we face our students in whom we strived to inculcate moral values, ethics, social responsibilities and so much more along with the academic education? These were life-altering questions for which we had no satisfactory answers.

In India corruption is so deep and pervasive and now in a time when many keep jumping from one side to the other just to satisfy their selfish gains, it is gratifying to know that there is still something to prove our national motto – Satyameva Jayate. (Truth alone triumphs; not falsehood.). The State Women’s Commission Report has proved it; Hon’ble Justice S. Nagamuthu in the Madurai Bench of High Court has also proved it right by following principles and protecting truth. Their ethic is not for sale proving that ‘Money cannot buy truth & justice… always!

Thanks to all who stood by our side in our times of despair.

Dr Chinnaraj Joseph is a Victorian from the begining of his carrer.

IF there was any one in the same position, during this period, they would have perished.

Dr George Selvakumar, mostly regarded as the Gentlest MAN in our college has been used for perverted reason. We still know that Dr George selvakumar would be the first Man to rejoice in this verdict. As he was in the clutches of Sinister people.

In Chennai a week back a very old student who was battered by Lifes misfortunes reached a Security Agency and asked for any work to meet his ends, in that Interview when he told he was American College Alumnus, the Owner of the agency took him as a Regional Manager and offered him good pay.

Such is name of the college.

Really really historical moment. I missed the reports to read yesterday itself. Thank you for Ilango who has "stolen" the reports to inform us about the Heroic Victory of The American College over the Currupt and hooligan people. Thank you Samji the detailed information. I expect you would reproduce the judgements in the coming days to all of us. Cynthia is so memmorable for her emotions and the questions she raised.
Tharumathin Vazhvuthanai Choodhu Kavvum;
tharumam marupadi Vellum!
But We have to make clear that in future nothing like these evil forces wont enter the College again. Its a time for CHEERS also. (so sad, I was not able to read Dr. S. Prem Singh's Speech though I tried here in 2-3 computers for the Tamil fonts).
VEERA VANAKAKM to all the brave people-Students, Staffs-teaching and non-teaching and ESPECIALLY the women Force, because they stood in the front. and also to the Alumni of the college.

I read your wonderful account of the celebration that you felt at the judgement pronounced by the Court on the sinster plot by the Bishop to take control of American College. Although I am not an alumnus of the college, I have visited the college when my maternal uncle, the late Mr. S.J. Saverirayan was the Principal of the college. And, I have known the high standards that the college has maintained over the years. I am glad that matters have been set right. May the college flourish in every way in the days to come. Praise God for His intervention. This is the result of a lot of prayer from all those who had the good in their heart for the college. I rejoice with you.

Thank you sir for the response. Am not an alumnus of the college either. But have been working in this college since 2006 and the 2 years in the campus has been a great nourishment for me.

My grand parents and many in the family have studied in this college. It is hard to preserve this heritage because of the evil around us. But we need to strive to uphold the legacy of this great institution
