On the morning of 13th Oct students who are on our side decided to go for a peaceful sit-in dharna. Since it was inside the campus and there was no unruly behavior on the side of our students staff did not worry that any untoward things would happen. But after some time the police force inside the campus went out and stood outside the gate. Some of those “sincere” students who were ‘attending’ the classes inside the campus came out and started talking with the students sitting peacefully near but inside the gate. Soon this talk took a different turn and some more outside elements that were all along inside the campus joined the “sincere” students. All of sudden with these elements leading the pack a violent scene erupted. Our students who were sitting became lame ducks for the other group since our boys never thought of any violence from their own counter parts. Our students were chased and beaten and the whole thing was watched by the police force from outside the gate.

After this melee some of our students wanted to go out and sit on the road blocking the traffic. The police force now woke up to their duty and chased those few students. The lathi charge was not mild one by any standards. One student was seriously hit near his eye and was immediately rushed to GH. Some friends of our college there gave a timely help for the boy.

Following this there was some change in the personnel of the police in charge of our campus.
