30.09.’08 COURT DIARY

*

Three of our cases came up for hearing today in the Madurai High Court.

CASE 1:

It was for getting a direction to the registrar of societies to issue Form 7 to us also. He has issued the certificate to the bishop group long back. Issuance of this form is just a routine thing. But the registrar has made it a tough uphill task for us. Though we cannot be denied of that form since it is only a mere official document we have been pleading with the official in vain for a very long time. So we have gone to the court to order the official to issue the form to us within the next few days.

COURT HAS ORDERED THE REGISTRAR TO ISSUE THE FORM 7 TO US SOON.

CASE 2: I

In the lower court we have filed a case against the validity of the Governing Council convened by the bishop. The bishop’s side had been dragging this case with routine adjournments causing undue delay. So we have gone to court to expedite the case.

COURT HAS ORERDED THAT THE LOWER COURT SHOULD GIVE JUDGMENT WITHIN THE NEXT 6 WEEKS.

CASE 3:

With these favourable verdicts on the two cases we expected that the third case would also come to a favourable finish. This is the case to vacate the earlier order of the court passing injunction.

CASE HAS BEEN ADJOURNED TO 13TH OCTOBER.

In the evening some of us were with the Principal at his Morning Side quarters. We were informed that so far our counsel Mr. Mohna Lal has not been paid any fees for all our cases he has been handling. His respect for the college is the only reason for this magnanimity. But his assistants had spent Rs. 30,000 on this day alone for the three cases paying the court fees from their pockets. Since the court would be on leave for the next fortnight and since the juniors have to leave for their places, that amount had to be paid back to them before 8 pm. Principal was trying to mobilise that amount from so many different sources. And till 5, when I left the place, he could not.

This is the real status of us while the bishop's group is lavishly spending on men and matters flaunting their ill gotten wealth.

It is not a good news to see justice starving for funds!! (as always) Why don't the team out there open an account or even a "foundation" called "Save American College Foundation" and we as alumni elsewhere in the world keep wiring some funds whatever we could!! Pls do not revoke this idea!! or tell us how we could do that now for the present!!

i am so happy to see there are steps being taken to open a bank account to save american college. This will facilitate all of us to send in our financial contribution to help hold the repute of our alma mater and see the future generation benefit like we did. we stand united in warding off evil that cares less for the repute and glory of the college. gp reuben muscat
