THE AMERICAN COLLEGE ISSUE:
DECISION BY DIRECTOR OF COLLEGIATE EDUCATION
The Director of Collegiate Education Prof. Nalini Ravindran in her proceedings in R.C. 18902/G4/2008 dated 14.9.2008 has declared in the proceedings of the Governing Council Meeting allegedly convened by Dr. V.George Selvakumar and Bishop Rt.Rev.Christopher Asir on 19.4.2008 as illegal as per the by-laws of the Governing Council. She also has stated that the resolution passed in the special meeting held on 19.4.2008 appointing Dr.V.George Selvakumar as Principal and Secretary of the College is not legally valid and is set aside. Further according to Rule 9(2) of the Tamil Nadu Private Colleges (Regulations) Rules 1976, if the Educational agency intends to change the Secretary within the period of 3 years, it shall do on only with the prior approval of the Director of Collegiate Education. In the instance case prior approval of Director of Collegiate Education has not been obtained by the College Governing Council before removing Dr.T.Chinnaraj Joseph Jaikumar from the post of Secretary before the expiry of his tenure of three years.
Hence the removal of Dr.T.Chinnaraj Joseph Jaikumar from the post of Principal and Secretary is arbitrary and illegal and this action of the College Council convened by the Bishop is set aside. Under the circumstances Dr.T.Chinnaraj Joseph Jaikumar continues to hold the post of the Principal and Secretary of the College Governing Council.
The order also says that the Vice-Principal and Bursar should not have been suspended. However it is important to note that their appointment to these special positions expired on 31.5.2008.

I'm confused about one thing.
How can selva and christopher continue in their older positions, when their tenure had already expired?
Is there any legal basis? is it some kind of dumb uncertainity?

Very glad to have the latest news on the American College situation. The Director of Collegiate Education has indeed restored the status quo ante for the College. Good news indeed.
Thanks for keeping the well-wishers of the College posted with information up-to-date on the College. Thanks for the good pictures of the recent one-day 'dharna' at the West Masi-North Masi Junction at Madurai. One could see that it had great participation.
Hope that there can soon be a public celebration within the College to mark the end of the troubled times for the College. All the best to the College and its well-wishers.

Is there still any motion before any courts at this time? Is the finding by the director of collegiate education definitive? Is the director of collegiate education at the state or the national level?
